Major in the Union cavalry in the Civil War.
In any case, A. H. Linder fought in the battles around KC
(the last one was at Harrisonville, Missouri, near KC) early in the war before a very bad case of measles forces him to resign his commission and return home. However, three sons remained in the Union Army with two of them killed in the Battle of Pea Ridge in Arkansas later in the war and the third wounded at a battle in northern Missouri.
